Q. What is Mobile Email?

A. With Mobile Email, your personal email goes where you go. Mobile Email allows you to access many popular email services and read, delete, and respond to your email as if you were sitting at a computer. With some email providers (Yahoo!, Windows Live, AIM, AOL) you'll receive "new mail" alerts with shortcut access to your inbox to view your mail.

Q. Which email providers does Mobile Email support?

A. Mobile Email supports Yahoo! Mail, AOL Mail, AIM Mail, Windows Live Mail, AT&T Yahoo! Mail and BellSouth. In addition, Comcast, Earthlink, Netzero, and Juno are supported on newer handsets. (New mail alerts are not an available feature with Comcast, Earthlink, Netzero, and Juno.)

Check back often. We will be adding new email providers in the near future.

Q. Is Mobile Email available for my phone?

A. Mobile Email is available on our most popular devices. Just look for the email icon on the phone's main menu, or look under the Messaging icon on the main menu for 'Mobile Email'. Mobile Email is also available as a download on select devices. Visit MediaNet, then Mail and Messaging to see if Mobile Email is available as a download on your device.

Q. Can I still use mobilenumber@cingularme.com to send and receive email messages?

A. We recommend that you change your address to mobilenumber@txt.att.net because of additional benefits, like Message Preferences, which allows you to manage your email-to-SMS preference.

Q. How do I get started?

A. To get started, just open the Mobile Email application on your phone, select your service provider, type in your email ID and password and your inbox will display. From your inbox, you can scroll to each message to preview the subject line. Then select the email you want to read. The email will appear on your phone in seconds. Then read, delete, or respond using the Options key.

Q. Can I send or read email attachments from my phone?

A. If an email has an attachment, a paperclip icon will appear to the left of the subject line. You will not be able to view the attachment from your phone.

Q. I deleted an email from my phone; will it be deleted when I log in from the PC?

A. Yes. All functions you do from your phone will be reflected when you log into your account on your computer.

Q. I have two email accounts from the same provider. Can I view both of them?

A. Yes. To add an additional account, open Mobile Email, and select "Add Account." You can add as many accounts as necessary. And you can turn alerts on and off for each account.

Q. How often do I receive alerts?

A. New mail alerts will automatically come to your phone within 30 minutes after you receive a new email.

Q. How do I turn new mail alerts on and off?

A. Sign into your email account. Select the options menu, and "Email Alerts". You can enable or disable alerts from this screen.  This option can be changed as often as you'd like.

Troubleshooting

Q. I get an error message that says "Failed Login." What happened?

A. Many login failures are due to entering your ID and password incorrectly. The password is case sensitive so be sure to input your password with the proper capital and lowercase letters.

Q. Will Mobile Email work if I put my SIM in another phone?

A. Yes. If the Mobile Email application is on the new phone, you will need to set up your account. If the Mobile Email application is not on your new phone, and you did not delete your email account from the Mobile Email application, you will continue to receive "new mail" alerts. Your phone will not be able to read the alert, and it will appear as a garbled text message (containing text "OZMAIL" in the message). These messages will automatically stop after 14 days, or you must return your SIM to the original phone and delete your Mobile Email account from that phone.
